Frequently Asked Questions
How do
you or I measure how effective an Excerptalicious.com
campaign is?
This one is very difficult due to the nature of the
promotion offered, because, while I 'can' keep track of how
many times a promotion is downloaded, there is no way I can
(that I currently know of) record how many friends or
friends of friends the original downloader may send the
promotion to...and because there is the reader anonymity
angle to consider as well.
Readers are
much more apt to check out your book information if their
every move is not recorded and tracked. People dislike
giving out their personal information on the Internet, and
Excerptalicious.com makes sure they are not required to do
so in order to check out new books they may want to buy.
What do you mean when you say your strategy is about
making my book promotion "viral"?
What I mean by "viral" is this: You make your book
Excerptalicious!. Your promotion is placed on the site, and
a reader downloads it. He likes it, and is pretty sure two
or three of his friends will, too, so, he either 1) sends
the info to his friends via email or 2) points his friends
to the site so they can get it for themselves.
The "viral" I'm talking about is word of mouth, nothing
more. Nothing harmful intended. Just more people learning
about your books and your book making more sales because of
that.
What efforts are you going to expend to ensure readers
visit the site? What will bring them in, month after month?
I will be using a number of methods...namely no cost reading
material (not whole books, mind you) for readers. Readers
love to get something for free, especially if they don't
have to jump through hoops to get it. Excerptalicious.com
makes that extremely easy for them while allowing them to
maintain their anonymity.
I will also be sending out releases to online pr sites, to
readers through email discussion lists and forums and such
(my PR Manager handles this, actually), and more. I always
consider contests/giveaways as well, which have brought
tremendous results in the past.
Another thing I am doing is allowing other webmasters who
are interested to post Excerptalicious.com promotions on
their sites (as no cost content for their sites), so this
could multiply exposure exponentially.
If my book promotion through Excerptalicious does not
garner additional sales, may I discontinue the promotion?
You can cancel at any time. Just remember that if you
cancel, your promotion will be removed from the website.
What distinguishes Excerptalicious.com from any other
author excerpts website?
The thing that distinguishes Excerptalicious.com from other
author excerpt sites is this: Anonymity and ease-of-use.
And, Excerptalicious.com makes it easy for (and encourages!)
visitors to share what they've found and enjoyed with
other readers, who will then, in turn, visit the site to
download promotions for themselves.
I like to think of it as word-of-mouth at its best. Simple,
easy, fun, interesting...I could list adjectives all day
long, and not run out of good things to say about it.
How much marketing am I, as an author, going to have to
do for your website?
You are not required to do any marketing of either the
Excerptalicious.com site, or your promotion there, although
putting the promotion on your own site (as well as at
Excerptalicious.com) will help "share the love" so to speak.
The more people who see your information, the greater the
chance they will buy your book. While I would appreciate if
you linked the Excerptalicious.com graphic back to
Excerptalicious.com, even that is not required.
